Fourth Grade Teacher

My name is Jennifer Wiebe and I am the fourth grade teacher at Our Lady of Perpetual School. I am a graduate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Garces Memorial High School. I loved being a part of the OLPH family and now I am able to continue this tradition with my own daughters.
After graduating from Garces, I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Once I returned to Bakersfield, I couldn’t wait to utilize the knowledge I gained in child development and psychology. I worked with mothers and children at the Bakersfield Homeless Shelter, I taught preschool at Cal State, Bakersfield, and I conducted social skills groups at various schools in the Bakersfield City School District through Kern County Mental Health Children’s System of Care.
I switched gears for a little while as a Research Director at KUZZ and then worked at Community Connection for Child Care. I realized I missed being around children so I decided to became a Resource Specialist teacher. This allowed me to return to CSUB, but this time as a student in the Special Education Department.
I took a break from teaching once my first daughter was born. I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom to both my daughters for eight years. When my girls were older, an opportunity to be an aide in the second grade classroom was presented to me and I couldn’t pass up the chance of being a part of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help family again. I was an aide for four years and am now a fourth grade teacher here at OLPH.
